Alfred Allison MacLaren

The death of Alfred Allison MacLaren, age 76, occurred at Portage General Hospital, Portage la Prairie, Manitoba on Sunday, August 8th, 2010 with his family by his side. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Gertrude (Hawbolt); daughters Debbie (Barry Urquhart) NB; Valerie (Dale Reid) AB; Darlene Long, MB and son Alfred (Coralie), MB; grandchildren Jason Urquhart (Michelle); Scott and Jamie Reid; Jimmy, Josh and Jeremy Long; Amanda and Adena MacLaren; step-grandchildren Becky Braun (Clint) and Stephen Arundell, brothers Reg and Lorne and sister Jean Dover. Predeceased by grandson Alfred Tyler MacLaren, brothers Victor, Keith, Melvin and Maurice and sisters Gladys MacKenzie, Lois Williston, Freda Sawyer, Rhoda Rodgers and Irma Weeks.

Alfred loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Hunting and fishing seasons were highlights in his life. He also enjoyed his garden and took pride in the abundant harvest that came from it. He was a fisherman for 35 years. From there he went into the ministry for 28 years where he ministered at 9 different locations in the Maritimes. He was honored and respected wherever he went.

Resting at the MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel from where the service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. Interment in West St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Online condolences may be made at www.macleanfh.com
